Breaking

This winter has lasted so long
That you'd nearly forgotten spring.
But the air outside remembers.

Remembers parks and picnics.
Remembers stairs and accordions.
Remembers rose tinted street lamps
and knowing you've finally arrived.

It's waiting to remind you;
You just have to step outside.

Outside flourescent lights.
Outside fast food lunches.
Outside spread sheets and emails
and forgetting you're still alive.

Stop it.

Leave it.

Let the air remind you.

You know you're still alive.

And that's what really matters.

[unrefined. unrevised. just a handful of words from a PMSing poet on her lunch break]
