In a very anxious holding pattern over whether the house is going to close tomorrow or not. The past two days have been calls and emails back and forth between us, the bank and the title agent. Every time we think the closing is on track for Friday, someone calls or emails me to say "Well, I didn't get this document yet from the bank" or "There's a small hitch." They told us they had the final papers to us 24 hrs. before closing (which would've been today at 2 pm). And now they're saying tomorrow morning.
Are all closings this slapdash and tentative? Because how many homebuyers can just sit by the phone waiting for someone to call and say, "Okay, you're closing is scheduled for...NOW! Drop everything! If you're not here in the next 3 minutes, you're late!" Most people (including us) need at *LEAST* a day's advance notice to request time off from work, get together all the appropriate paperwork, etc.
Sigh. Hopefully it will be worth all the hassle.
