You'll have to excuse me while I get schmoopy for a minute.
Every single day for a good three years now one or more of you has put a smile on my face. Without fail. This is such a good place, filled with so many good people, I could just burst from how much I love it, and care about it. So I find it genuinely upsetting to have people come in from the outisde, who don't understand fandom, and who aren't a part of it, throwing judgements around and creating mass fear and panic.
I just really hope LJ fandom gets through all of this without losing the humour, and frivolousness, and fearlessness, that makes it so much fun, and so different from everything in maintstream entertainment. And without losing the very people who are active in making it what it is.
And that's my take on THAT.
And while I'm blathering on about sentimental things, there's something I've wanted to say for a while now. Sometimes you guys will leave me these amazing little compliments, and I have a tendency to blow them off, or cover them with sarcasm, or just not respond to them at all. But that's only because I'm not good at handling compliments, not because I don't love them. I always see them, I always appreciate them, and they always make me feel good. I just... have issues. I'm the same way in real life. If someone compliments me I never know what to say. I'm not a comfortable in the spot light kind of girl. So, consider this a big blanket THANK YOU.
Have any of you guys been watching
Australia's Next Top Model? My goodness, the last two episodes have absolutely made me weep at the end. The judges losing it = me losing it. At first I didn't like it as much as the American version, but now I think I might like it even more. Plus, you know, THORPEY. *g*
Not only is there an
official Long Way Down site, but the BBC has a
site up as well, which has new video and an audio interview. It's already so cool how much more interactive this trip is. They recorded the first one for themselves and their families, but I really get a sense that with this one they're also recording it for us. THANKS, GUYS.
ETA: the Charley clip is so cute! Oh man, I just want more and more! Oh, boys!
For anyone on my flist who has managed to not yet see Long Way Round, PUT IT UP HIGH ON YOUR TO DO LISTS. YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
PS. I feel twitchy about the fact that there are no pictures in this post. *twitches*
