MAN, OH MAN, The Office and 30 Rock were hilarious this week. I'm sure I missed half the jokes from laughing so hard. GOOD STUFF.
Friday Night Lights 1x22: State
That was just right. A perfect ending. Full circle enough to bookend the season, but with enough left open for there to still be potential for the future.
Sometimes I'm not attracted to Matt Saracen. This was not one of those times.
Somebody PLEASE give this woman an award. And hurray for Smash's mama! I loved how this episode found time to pay tribute to so many of the smaller side characters. Even Matt's grandma had some great lines.
This may be the single most defining moment of my life, so you may need to tell your grandma to take the damn bus.
Hahah at Saracen reacting to Landry's evil-plan-o-chocolate.
Okay, this picspam is a little Saracen heavy. Partly because we experienced the episode more through his eyes than any of the other players, but also because his reatrained hostility toward the coach really had me reeling over how much he's changed this season without losing any of his Oh Matt Saracen-ness. I mean, it's not like he came out and voiced his complaints, but little things, like his "I was with your daughter" comment were very much not the Matt Saracen of old.
Oh, poor Landry. I loved his "hey, Mindy. How's the stripping goin'?".
This whole bit?!? With the theme music playing in the background?!? MY GOD, I WAS WEEPING. And Tim Riggins was killing me with his awe struck faces. He was just so happy and confident. Not at all tortured and fucked up. I really think it could go either way for that boy.
Lyla Garrity, laides and gentlemen. Hahah! This episode did a great job of turning on a dime on multiple occasions. There was this scene, and I also felt it when we switched from the hilarity of Landry's ride from hell to the sentimentality of the boys arriving at the staduim.
BALLS OUT.
And some random caps that didn't fit anywhere else.
Eric, I just came by to tell you how much I'm gonna miss you. You're a fine football coach. That's what I came to tell you.
Oh, Buddy Garrity. This is such a perfect example of how this show lives and breathes the philosophy that people will always surprise you.
I loved how hard this hit Matt. Of course. He's already let one father go because it was the right thing to do. He was right to let his father go, and he's right to not let the coach go.
This game is not over. This battle is not over.
The call-back to Jason's injury WRECKED ME. I don't know, man, this whole episode had me thinking back to the start of the season BIG TIME.
You know, the football game itself was a wee big cheesy and likely not all that realistic, but then they throw a hug like that at me and I don't even fucking care. I'M YOURS, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS.
So, that could be it. And part of me would be okay with that. Part of me can leave these characters in that moment for the rest of forever and be ecstatic for them. And be content to love them forever as they are right now. But I'm also a glutton. And an optimist. So I want more. And I'll believe more will be just as good as less until proven otherwise.
Note: Caps were made and cleaned by me. Please don't use them for graphics and whatnot.
PS. I love how many people have already photoshopped Jensen's bad sideburns in that new Ten Inch Hero pic. I CONCUR. It's like fandom read my mind and instantaneously delivered the goods.
