Seriously Can't Wait

I have to post about the costume that I just CAN'T wait to start! {But I'll have to because I have too many other things to get done first, bah}

Alice's Ric-Rac Skirt Ensemble from the new Alice in Wonderland!

*Swoon*, I am in LOVE!

Check out the black and white striped petticoat under the skirts.

I don't think I'm going to make the jacket though at this point, but maybe sometime in the future.

I've been doing research about the skirt and the ric-rac and although a lot of people like it, there aren't many that have attempted it as far as I've found...
But I think I have found the exact ric-rac that they used, which makes me want to start it right now!! I was having trouble finding something in the same color and was worried I'd have to dye something, but it's hard to find the large ric-rac in cotton and I was worried a polyester wouldn't take dye well. I also realized that I would need a large amount of yardage for the skirt {not to mention the two different widths} and so I started looking into wholesale amounts and that's when I found the perfect match! The larger width is 1+13/32 inches and the smaller I think is about the 11/16th of an inch size. They have over 40 colors in 6 sizes each! Crazy! It makes me tempted to even try a different color!

One of the reasons I've been smitten by this costume I think is because I've been more and more interested in Steampunk lately. In fact, that's one reason why I'd like to start in on a bit of Victorian. I know it's not completely Steampunk, but it's not completely VIctorian either. I still LOVE it! :)

I've got a lot more thinking to do about all of it {like the shirt and tie - I don't think the vest will be that hard}, but I think I've got a good start! I'll just have to figure out when I can start it. Also, I'm thinking if I order one roll of the two sizes of ric-rac I might have enough for more than one skirt {need to estimate yardage...} so I might be able to make two and sell one, or even just sell the extra yardage {cause that might be more work than it's worth}. Anyway, I hope it works out!
