News stories like this one just me feel warm and squishy inside. A woman goes to see her husband off to Iraq and gets fired for not showing up to work. Naturally the employer cites "other factors" just like the moron who fired a woman for having a John Kerry bumper sticker on her car.

I think a line that William Peterson has at the end of CSI in the episode Shooting Stars best sums up humans and religion: "I am sure if there is something out there looking down on us from somewhere else in the universe, they're wise enough to stay away from us."
