Well the state beat its six-to-eight week deadline and ruled in my favor so the unemployment checks have begun. I got the first one deposited this morning so now I have a stable source of income and do not have to call my mom every time I have an expense.
The car had another $200 repair bill I paid yesterday too. The "Service Engine Soon" light was on when I picked it up after major engine repair. I assumed that this was because it was very close to 120,000 miles and the light is programmed to come on about every 30,000 miles. I then drove to Toronto and within the space of a week put 1,000 miles on the car which should have turned the light off. Also while in Toronto the vents died on me. Turns out that while I was in Toronto the oxygen sensor in the engine blew and will cost $315 to repair. The vent issue was caused by a hose being kicked loose which was a $120 repair (had to replace the hose). Thankfully the oxygen sensor is a non-fatal problem that I can let sit for a while. The service adviser just cautioned me that, while they can reset it, the problem would trigger the service light and mask any other problem. If I have it fixed within 30 days, the $82 diagnostic feel will be applied towards the repair so it would only cost me another $233 to get it fixed.
The job hunt continues to go. I have a few job bids to take over to UMich and I have submitted my resume to a few other places. Other than that, life just goes on really.
