Camp!

I just thought I would write a quick note because the for the next week at least I will be MIA.

My camp starts today. I have been here since about 6.15am. I have now gotten the staff off on their way to meeting points for the kids, and now I just have to wait until they arrive. Did I mention family camp was SO much easier. We have a lot of hardcore and damaged kids who come to camp. As well as being very physically demanding, the week is very emotionally draining. I stay here for the whole week that camp is on, so I moved in this morning. Oh exciting news - Megan Lake (Michigania) is coming to camp to volunteer for a couple of days. She will be here today. I've already warned her about the startling differences between here and Michigania, but she says she's keen. So it will be great to see her.

Kiera made sure I got very little sleep last night. She saw me packing bags and I think she started to fret. She did not leave me alone all night.

Greg will come out a couple of nights and have dinner. So I at least get to see him.

The horses are doing well. The new one (who I still, quite sadly, am yet to name - any suggestions?) is doing great. I've ridden him like every other day. I forgot how much hard work it is to get those bareback legs back in shape. It's amazing how your muscles go to crap when you're not using them in the same way. I think I'm almost starting to do it painfree right now. Greg rode Indi for a while yesterday - and did really well. I jumped on him after that and it was the most perfect he has ever been. I had him walking calmly and coming down on the bit. He was relaxed for the first time ever. So yay - progress.

Anyway I'm off to photocopy schedules and open cabins. Say a prayer for my kids - that they are not too rowdy and some of them actually find some peace for a week or so.

See you on the flip side.
