Schlierenzauer: surgery successful
After he fell in training on Wednesday and suffered a torn medial colleteral ligament, overall World Cup winner Gregor Schlierenzauer was operated already on Thursday. The surgery, done by Dr. Wulf Glötzer at the hospital Hochrum, was successfull.
According to the doctor the surgery went well, without any complication and lasted about one hour. With an athroscopic operation the ligament was fixed again.
Schlierenzauer will have to stay in hospital for four or five days now.
" We'll start the therapy today, for 10 days we'll take off the stitches.Gregor'll have to wear a splint for six weeks. Next two weeks is reserved for rehabilitation training" -said Dr. Glötzer
After that he will have to wear a splint for six weeks and start the rehabilitation as soon as possible. According to Dr. Glötzer the knee shall recover completely after the therapy.
The press conference with Gregor and Dr. Glötzer is probably appointed on Saturday at about 11a.m
