Freaked out

Well, this guy pulled up in his Mustang in my Driveway today. He came to the door and knocked on it. He knocked and knocked and knocked.

Some of you may think this is weird, but I never answer the door when I'm home alone. If I don't know who's on the other side, then I figure that they don't need to be there, and I don't need to find out why ( Read more... )

That's how I feel. This woman in the very small town right next to ours, I mean not even 10 minutes away, opened her door one day and was greeted with being raped with a knife held to her throat. These things don't happen very often around here, it's really a pretty safe place to live, but as you said, you never know.

Yeah, next time if it happens I'll call the police as soon as they don't leave like normal people would. That's what the police are there for right? So I shouldn't feel bad about calling.

I know what the one guy looks like, and their car, but the other one never even got out of the car.

I feel fairly certain that they were looking for the people that live in that house we share a driveway with, but you would really think that a person would get the hint to leave you alone if you didn't come to the door, and trying to open it is just plain weird.

No more unlocking the door for sure! Actually up until this day we would leave the door unlocked when we left and stuff too. Our area was mostly country just a few years ago, but now it has grown up so much, and we don't have friends as neighbors anymore since they moved last year, so we won't be doing that anymore.

Yeah, don't ever feel guilty about calling the police. As you said, that's what they're for. I remember when I was younger, we lived in Michigan, and we used to always leave our door open too. Hell, we'd be in the basement and the door would be wide open. When we moved to Miami, same thing. But those days are long gone! Even at my apartment, I always keep the door locked, and many times when I'm home and someone knocks I don't answer. I look through the peephole and if I don't feel comfortable, I don't open it.

It's your safety you need to be concerned with, not anybody's feelings you might bruise.

I just hate feeling scared about something like that. I think it's gonna take me a few days to get over it. I'm feeling kinda violated right now, since this person tried to invade my sanctuary.

The front door has windows in it, and I have always hated that people can look in the house from outside, and after yesterday it really started bothering me, so I decided to convert a table cloth into a makeshift curtain until I can get something else, and hung it up there. It actually looks pretty good, and it makes me feel a lot less vulnerable.

Glass front doors are nice, but I've never thought them practical.

People can see inside your house, and breaking in is just a good rock away. And I'm sorry, but I've never walked up to anybody's house and tried to open the door when they didn't answer.
