Well, this guy pulled up in his Mustang in my Driveway today. He came to the door and knocked on it. He knocked and knocked and knocked.
Some of you may think this is weird, but I never answer the door when I'm home alone. If I don't know who's on the other side, then I figure that they don't need to be there, and I don't need to find out why they are there.
My husband had just called before this guy pulled up, and so I had unlocked the front door as he was on his way home. This guy comes up about 5 minutes later and starts knocking. I wait for him to leave and run down and lock the door, then run back to my middle girls room to look out the window to see who it is and what they are doing. (Yeah, I may be a little paranoid) The guy has gotten back in his car, which has slowly started to pull down the driveway. They pull to a stop at the house at the bottom, (it's a shared driveway), and this guy gets out again and starts walking back up to the house. He walks up to the house and walks all around our shed and in the yard before coming back to the front door.
By this time I'm panicking a little. I'm actually starting to shake because I don't know what the hell this guy is doing, and he looks weird. He's really skinny with poofy white hair, and he's smoking a cigarette. He just looks really unkempt and strange to me.
So I'm watching out the window from my middle girl's room, and the guy comes back to the front door and starts knocking again. Then he actually tries to open the door! I just about peed on myself. He yells down to his friend that the door is locked and walks back down the driveway, and then walks to the neighbors house that is in front of our house. I don't know if he talks to anyone there or not, but after a few minutes he gets back in his car and he and the driver leave. Thank God that I locked the door back.
What the heck did he think he was doing trying to open my door???? Was he going to come in and what..? Ask if anyone was home? Or was it more sinister than that? I don't know, but it scared me so bad that I could hardly hold the phone for shaking. Barry fussed at me when he got home and said I should have called the police. Maybe I should have, but I wasn't sure what they guy was doing, and I didn't want to call them for no reason.
The people that used to live in the house that shares our driveway left a few months ago. They came from NC. and the woman moved in and her fiance was soon to follow. Unfortunately she was asked to resign from her job as a principle at one of the elementary schools in our area, and so she packed up and we assume moved back to NC to be with her fiance. But the thing is that they never put the house back up for sale or anything. I don't know if they are coming back or what, but the house has been abandoned for months. It's possible that this guy was a relative or friend of theirs and wanted to know what happened to them, but knocking for so long, and then trying to open the front door is weird and scary.
So now I'm a little freaked out that they are going to come back. I was so freaked out after it happened that I stayed locked up in my middle girls bedroom till Barry got home about 40 minutes later and kept watching out the window for them to come back.
I just really can't believe that happened. I have never been so scared in my own home before, and I sincerely hope that something like that never happens again.
