I guess I ramped up my milage too quickly from being of after my surgery. I have shin pains now. Darn it! I have never had this before. I have felt it for the last three runs. I skipped my long run Sunday and was only able to go four sowly on Monday. My run last night turned into a walk. Grrrr

After reading both "Explosive Running" and "Chi Running," I try to relax the lower legs and not push off so hard anymore. It's the pushing off that causes shin splints.

How long did you have to stop running?

I have somehow managed to stay uninjured since the end of summer, even though I've been doing 70-80 mpw. I think it's partly because I run on dirt a lot now, but my feet and lower legs also feel stronger since I do about 10-15 mpw in the Frees.
