OzTrek 2

I went to a Star Trek Con today and Patrick Stewart was the guest. He appeared to be a genuinely warm, funny and intelligent person. It was so much fun to listen to him and spend the day celebrating all things geek.

What I learned at the Convention:

*Supernatural is being renewed for a sixth season - fingers crossed this is true.

*That Patrick lived in Melbourne and Sydney in the late 1960’s when he did a world tour with a theatre company.

*That Patrick is no longer working in Hollywood, but in Britain were he is doing theatre. Although; if the movie is to his taste he may do it. He will also be in New York at the end of the year to act in a theatre show.

*Patrick reported that he was hurt that he is the only British actor not acting in any of the Harry Potter movies and would love to play a part in the yet to be film movie - The Hobbit!

*I am totally going to join the Star Trek fan club - I’d save a tone of money on these conventions if I had joined already.

*I also learned that people spend an obscene amount of money on merchandise - it made me feel guilty (although I did not buy anything) when I met two really nice UN workers trying to raise money for refugees in Africa.

I also wanted to thank the individual/group that organizes OzTrek conventions as they are always small and intimate events that contain some of the most welcoming people. I had a fantastic time...
