Big tarp country

Seth has chided me for not telling this story - so here it is. As I’ve said, there’s a lot of construction in the neighborhood, especially the neighbors to our left who have had all manner of bulldozers, jackhammers and noisy men working for most the summer. So a few weeks back just as the summer weather was kicking in, I was in the yard with the ( Read more... )

HA! Mz. Kravitz, indeed.

And as much as I love just about all there is to love about Seattle, I don't know that I could do all the dreary gray. Gotta have those wide expanses of blue sky and sunshine.

yes all this green takes a constant mist and a lid of gray. the trick is knowing when and where to vacation (and a good vitamin D supplement).

Haha. Crazy Seattle's got grey thick enough to hide an entire mountain. I visited once in the dreariest stretch of winter and will always have the snapshot in my head of a curious tear in the lead atmosphere, and behind it... shocking glory of robin's egg blue.

Hope you and your sweet Seth went out and got some warm tarp on your faces, dear lady, and also I hope this transition of work/freedom is enriching you. I'm not so good with changing seasons myself, but keep going through the motions, seeking beauty and meaning in it all.

Love. :)

well i've got me three butches outside doing yard work in the morning marine layer. Tex & Seth share a Thursday day off and our neighbor Nina has joined them to tear down some ivy. As for me, I'll be puttering on the inside (at least until the sun shows her face) and all it costs me is to feed 'em - heirloom tomoato frittata for breakfast and blue corn nachos for lunch (and maybe i'll throw in a blueberry crisp just for fun).

so it goes in the PNW... at least that gray can justify a lazy morning here and there.

That is just too funny! Not sure I could live with so little blue, but on the other hand there's all that green to make up for it.

I was really thinking that the weather in Seattle and here on the island was practically the same, but lately I'm finding that's not true. After a rainy and cool June that seemed to drag on forever, July has been fantastic. Sunny and blue skies every day and between 75-85. We just tied the record for a July without rain that was set in 1958! Things are actually starting to look brown around here! I noticed that this past week it was cool and maybe even rained down there? Not so here. So we've been enjoying lots of outdoor and beach time.

Wish I'd been there to help out my bros with the outdoor work. No butch brothers here on the island so far, and I miss that!
