Matsumoto Jun cast a longing look at the Bed, Bath, & Beyond just over the Queensboro bridge; he would have much rather have been there than at the Food Emporium. But Pur la Pau hadn't managed to get shelf space at BB&B. Instead they had shelf space at Food Emporium. It was the bottom shelf but it was on a large, main aisle and it was a victory for the small, local, organic shampoo that used Jun as their main face. For them he would make an appearance and answer questions at a place like this.
Jun watched as the store employee set up the folding table and chair, carefully selecting the bottles of shampoo and conditioner--two of each the tea-tree oil mint passion fruit sleek-and-shine therapy and the honeysuckle olive-oil aloe root care treatments. Even though it was just the Food Emporium this was a big day and he was excited. He wanted it to go well and he certainly didn't mind getting more recognition. Once the employee had gone away Jun took a small plastic baggie out of the leather messanger bag he carried. Rat brains looked a lot like grey raisins and they had a peculiar smell to them and he'd eaten a full meal of kidney and spleen earlier but he wasn't going to take any chances.
Uncapping his bottle of sparkling water and popping a mint, he sat down to wait.
