Nino had never put terribly much stock into it. He'd always liked to watch women make elaborate cards and chocolates, and he'd always liked seeing people happy on their date of choice. But it wasn't ever anything for him. He was just an observer. He'd not thought that would change.
Now there was not only Ohno to consider, but Maki as well. He had two boxes of the nicest chocolates he could find ready on the bedside table, though he'd been worrying over whether they were too much since he'd bought them. He knew that people usually talked about bottles of champagne and things, but that seemed like overkill. Perhaps nothing elaborate was needed. Or maybe he hadn't done enough.
Nino chewed his nail absently, sitting on the couch with Pearl in his lap and waiting for Ohno to get home from filming. He'd wanted to ask Maki over, but it was a weeknight and she had school to worry about on top of work. They'd make it up to her another day.
