I don't really know if it's an actual tried and true method, or if the people I mention actually used it. Anyways it's been too quiet around here lately; and I figured we could use a jump-start

Right. I have actually tried this. Played bass for a few years. Oh, it works. Sucks, and hurts like hell sometimes, but it works. My problem was nails - had to hack off the nails religiously, otherwise, you get a buzz on the frets (or if you're on keys, which I also played, a clicking noise).

I was thinking about posting a " Behind-The-Music voice-over monolog" piece... it's still fermenting in my brain.
