Team Rocket and his dad are two key things in his life that Silver is proud of. He's proud of them as he doesn't see the Rockets as a criminal gang, but a powerful group to be respected and admired even through the turmoil that they are going through. He knows he's the heir, but he also knows that he can't really tell anyone about it outside his dad's work because Bad People might take him away - this was probably just Giovanni's way of silencing his son's Big Mouth as a kid. If it works, it works. At school, Silver just boasts of his dad as being the best businessman ever! Silver does want to be a person that will be looked up to and respected - he can't wait for the day when he'll be able to give legitimate orders, either, But being respected as a strong trainer is important too. As he totally is ok, All those losses that he has mean nothing.

Silver also has his pride and ego and arrogance, and if he losses, he either: Blames his pokemon, says it's a waste of time to battle weaklings {The other trainers) Or both. He often uses both, as seen later in canon.

As of his pull point, he doesn't see his dad as a coward - he still looks up to the man, the number one trainer and the best dad in the world. Silver also thinks that Team Rocket is the best team in the world and that his dad can do no wrong whatsoever at all. That and he's just playing at disbanding Team Rocket.
