Character name: Silver
Fandom: GSC/HGSS
Timeline: Pre Celebi event. [It's implied in the event that Silver might have seen his father's defeat. If this canon point is not acceptable, let me know.]
Age: Headcanonly, about 12 years, 10mths old. I have also seen him as at least a few years older than the protags anyway.
~*Magical*~ abilities and strengths: Silver's an escape artist of a kid and he's fairly limber for a kid, but otherwise, he's human.
He comes with one pokemon though, a level 17 Eevee female called Bree. A full detailing of Eevee can be found here, but I'll sum it up as well.

Level: 17
Attacks: Tackle, Sand Attack, Dig and Growl. It knows Dig as no doubt Silver has access to TMs through his dad. .
Notes: She has everstone around her neck on a red collar to prevent accidental evolution until Silver's ready to evolve her.
How would they use their abilities?: battling others mostly, but Bree is more a pet and something that Silver is really, really attached to. He'd use her to help him solve things, and aid others, if asked, nicely. Otherwise he might try and use her cuteness to endear others to him.
Appearance: Silver's about 4'8, short for kid. He's got red hair and red eyes. His hair's semi longish and brushes the collar of his shirt. A pic from the GSC Era of the games for his clothes, which are generally in the darker colors, and his black shirt has a silver R on the pocket. He's proud of it.
He also has custom boots.
Background/Personality: Background - a lot of this is headcanon, but there are clues in the game scripts that have allowed me to extrapolate this and build on it, as well as borrow some themes from the manga [really only the elite bloodline part] to build on what is otherwise a rather 2d character.
CANON ||
Silver is the son of Giovanni, the former Gym Leader of Viridian City and the leader of Team Rocket. He's of an elite bloodline, too - and the only child of Giovanni and his wife. No mention of Silver's mother's ever been made and I honestly reject the idea that Ariana is his mother, so headcanonly, I assume that she died when he was young. Silver would have been about 4 or 5 at the time, leaving him with little memories of her, though I think that she would have left a warm and loving impression on the child.
HEAD CANON ||
Much of Silver's childhood was spent idolising his father and growing up around Team Rocket ideals - most evident given that way that he treats his pokemon in the games - cold and harsh and he uses them like weapons of war. He would have learned that from the grunts and undoubtedly, he'd come to see pokemon that were not his as expendable and gained a jaded view on suffering by humans and pokemon by the age of 12. They are just animals. Dumb things, after all.
Hiss father would have been distant at times, given what he did for a living, though Silver hero worshipped him, knowing that his dad was head of the Rockets - as seen in the Celebi event - and Silver clearly doesn't see anything wrong with this. He knew as much about them as anyone would let a child - which was a lot of the basics - though a lot was also Silver getting his hands on things that he shouldn't have, further jading him to what Team Rocket did. He sees it as normal - though Silver never saw the full extent of what went on under his father's gym, borrowing from the anime.
His tenth birthday rolled around, and Silver gained a trainer's licence, and a gift from his father - an Eevee, that he promptly named Bree. While yes, she is his tool, she's his trusted tool, one one that you could say that he loves. Though he wasn't allowed to g on a trainers journey, Silver really didn't mind, much, though he did sulk for a while. That and he was and still is at the age of 12, a crappy battler with more losses than wins under his belt.
CANON||
Around three years prior to the start of GSC/HGSS, Red started his journey - upsetting Team Rocket's plans in the process and Silver is undoubtedly aware of this, again, implied in the Celebi event. Eventually, Red arrived at the Virdian Gym and defeated Giovanni - Silver witnessing the latter half the match - again, it's implied that he either saw all of it, or part of it in the Celebi event. To the boy's surprise [And most who thought that they'd just come to witness a gym match] Giovanni both abidcated and disbaned Team rocket, and thebn left the Gym, Silver running out after him - confused and bewildered.
And it's at this point that I'd love to grab him, just before the start of the Celebi event.
As for a bit more personality, Silver takes after his father in a lot of ways already. He has the makings of a selfish person and being a cold, callous person later in life. He sees pokemon as tools, though at this point it's not as bad as it will become in the games. He still values Bree, though that's as she is His. Other pokemon you can expect him to kick if he's upset with them. Silver also has the making of being a thief - again more than likely learned while he was around Team Rocket - that it's OK to steal and bully and intimidate to get what you want - not only learned from TR, but also his father, who is a businessman as well. Unfortunately being 12 and only have a cute eevee doesn't exactly aid in this.
His dad is the only person that Silver is truly scared of, as he wouldn't want to disappoint his father, as distant as he can be at times. His dad is his ero, anyway and Silver at this point wants to be like him - respected and powerful.
He was raised with the mentality that the strong rule the weak, though as of his pull point, he doesn't see his dad as a coward - he still looks up to the man, the number one trainer and the best dad in the world. Silver also thinks that Team Rocket is the best team in the world and that his dad can do no wrong what so ever. That and he's just playing at disbanding team Rocket.

1st person sample: So umm the kind lady said that I can use this to help find my dad amongst the other refugees. Also that my world's gone. But that... dad should be here too as I wasn't far behind him. [.. for those that know him, this is a younger looking Silver, who.... looks kinda cute and lost and not the arrogant young man later seen in the games. Also, more than a bit upset and scared. But what 12 year old wouldn't be scared in his situation?] He would have been right with me, filling in all that dumb paperwork. I'm a kid. Half of what they asked I didn't even understand.
Veeriii? [SUDDENLY, POKEMON.] Bree, not now. I'll find you food in a bit. [And the Eevee is unceremoniously shoved out of the kid's lap. There's definitely sounds of complaints along with Silver's face darkening.] Damnit Bree, shut up. I'll find you food as soon as I find my dad. Stupid thing. [He doesn't mean it right? He's just upset. A shake of his head and wipe at his eyes and he smiles, a little fake, a little weak.]
So umm... If any one could help me find my dad? His name's Giovanni and he's the best dad in the world!

Silver sniggered into his Pokemon's fur as the trainer recalled the badly injured animal after his dad's Rhyhorn finished it off with a Rockblask. But really, what did he expect the rocks to do? Not injure the pokemon? Pathetic really. Silver watched Red fumble for a pokeball before sending out what looked like his second to last Pokemon -- "Blastoise! BLIZZARD!"
-- And watched as the Rhyhorn was taken down by the attack. His father didn't seem that angry from what Silver could see, though the boy missed the clenched teeth and fists, and the fury in his eyes.
"Ha! That was a truly intense fight. You have won! As proof, here is the Earth Badge!" Giovanni held the badge out to Red, having recalled his fainted Pokemon. The child approached silently, Blastoise by his side. Silver leaned forward, trying to get a view of the badge, but failed. Oh well. He'd seen it enough times in his dad's office at the back of the gym, though he'd never been allowed to touch on. The only time he'd done that had resulted him being grounded for two weeks. But, to his surprise. his dad kept talking, and Silver felt the confusion rise even more.
What, What, What disbanding Team rocket? Leaving his post? Ummm What was going on?
Silver stood stock still on the stands, watching his father leave, confusion whirling his head. What had just happened. He was about to go after the man when a hand fell on his shoulder. Looking up, he saw that it was Gidon. The man just shock his head. Silver broke free and bolted after his father.
He needed to find out what was going on.
It was just a ruse... right?
