Stressful 3

Ok for any of you reading this I got another part done.  This section in my opinion, at least in writing it definitely flowed the best in comparison to the previous parts.  Not a huge chore to string thoughts together, but I kinda like to stream of conscious write anyway.  So gonna post this and then go to bed...shouldn't stay up to nearly 5 writing fiction....

Part 3/?
Pairings: Sam/Mikaela Bee/Sam
Summary: Sam is figuring out that maybe he and Mikaela aren’t meant to be and Bumblebee just wants to help his unhappy human.

This had been building up for sometime from Bee’s perspective of watching it all unfold and Sam’s display tonight was not a surprise. The reports he had been giving the other Autobots in fact had them all concerned about the human boy. After some thought Optimus had finally come up with "high-strung" as a descriptor for Sam. Oh they had no doubt that the boy could definitely manage under dire circumstances that they themselves had witnessed, but it was also noted that certain triggers could induce "red-lining" behavior from him.

Ratchet had downloaded all sorts of psychological journals and articles to better understand humans when Bee had first gave a report that indicated Sam was having difficulties within his species’ social network. He had found it concerning that these problems were manifesting when to all indications Sam shouldn’t be having them. All the Autobots, with all their different personalities, had found Sam’s company enjoyable. So why should he be having such trouble with his own species?

One conclusion that was only discussed initially between Ratchet and Optimus was that they themselves were somehow a negative influence on the boy and it had hindered his relationships with the others of his kind. This had been a very serious quiet dialogue that had looked at the ramifications of what contact they should keep with Sam if the theory was accurate. Pros and cons were taken assessment of between the two of them before it was brought up with all the Autobots as a group. In the end, the decision to remove themselves from Sam’s life was defeated.

One of the factors was the simple fact that all the Autobots took guarding Sam seriously. They didn’t know if the Decepticons would attack him for vengeance or not, but felt he should definitely be considered a viable target. Not all of the entirety of the enemy was confirmed to have been taken out that day in Mission City. So vigilance was kept, for the day they would reappear and attack.

Sam himself didn’t know how close a security was kept on him. Sure he knew that Bumblebee was almost always with him. He also had been given a "cell phone" specially programmed that acted as a panic button that was routed to all of the Autobots in case of emergency. However steps were taken to watch him when Bee himself was unable to come along without a great deal of suspicion arising. The others took turns tailing him for things like school trips and such, even when just riding along with his parents when they could not be persuaded to let Sam drive his camaro. Surveillance was set up to monitor him when in school and at his house. Mikaela’s house had some set up in the eventuality the two would hang out there.

The other large factor was Ratchet’s prognosis. Even if the aliens were the root of Sam’s problem, they currently were also a pillar of support for him. Sam could be himself without the judgement and doubt that plagued his human interactions. Ratchet felt that removing the Autobots from his life would only exacerbate the situation instead of alleviating it. Continuing the friendship between the human and giant robots was one of the few things they had all agreed they could successfully do to help Sam.

Bumblebee knew it was selfish of him and believed that he was not the only one who was relieved that casual interaction was something they would not have to give up. In fact, he suspected that Sam had managed to get past all the warriors’ defenses to the point that at times he felt that Sam had unofficially been given Autobot status himself. Rarely did any of the others come to Tranquility without spending at the least a short amount of time with the boy before departing. When all of them were together Sam was treated by the others as Bee himself had been when he had first joined the group, and Bumblebee had grown into performing what was once Jazz’s position to himself.

The boy was definitely a large part of the aliens’ lives on their new planet and seemed to never be far from any of their thoughts. The oft discussed but not yet finalized plan of the new base of operations was currently being held up ironically because of Sam. Not that they couldn’t start work for it almost immediately, but the location for it had become a matter of contention. Initially the designs had been set up in mind for being put near Tranquility for convenience, however shortly before the planned construction began an issue for its location became known.

The Autobots knew Sam was attending school and had a year remaining yet before graduation, but they had not known that more schooling called "college" could become a hindrance to their plans. Bumblebee had first become aware of it when listening to a conversation between Sam, his parents and Mikaela. The topic was brought up, and for the first time it became a large possibility that Sam would be leaving Tranquility for a new locale that could be a large distance from his current in little more than a year. Anxious to start construction, it was of much concern that this large of an unknown had cropped up to confound the robots’ plans.

After the third group discussion about the base after this problem had been identified, much to Bumblebee’s humor, Ironhide took it upon himself to get the answer from Sam about which college he would be attending. Sam’s account of it was of vast amusement for Bee. Apparently he had picked up Sam from school and meanderingly drove to the location of the others trying to lead Sam to a decision.

Frustrated by Sam's perplexity at having to come up with an answer to something he had thought little of himself, Ironhide began using a system of elimination to lower the variables of choice that Sam would be looking at. Questions of Sam’s interest in subjects of study helped eliminate choices of schools that had spanned the globe until Sam answered no to leaving the country. In retrospect, Sam was grateful because it had provided him to examine something he had thought little of himself. Though the thought of the question: "Beauty & Hair Design?" coming from Ironhide in his search of interests for narrowing different schools could bring Sam to tears with laughter.

Ironhide and Bumblebee had privately been of the opinion that Sam could perhaps be persuaded to forget about the college idea and just come join them on a more permanent basis. That is until Ratchet caught them discussing it. He had assaulted their audio sensors for that. He felt very strongly that cutting the boy off from humans that much would not be healthy. He tried to explain to them that as much as Sam enjoyed them that he still required interactions with the natives of the planet. They simply could not fulfill all of the human’s social needs.

As Bee looked upon his charge and friend he started to wonder these so-called required interactions were really worth the emotional distress Sam was suffering from that seemed to accompany them.
