This was very well written, and it was so refreshing to see a characterization of Sam that isn't dumb, simpering, or girly. Congrats on that.

It was also nice, if bittersweet, to watch the deepening distance between Sam and Mikaela. You described that well, staying very true-to-form about teenaged relationships.
