Texas Jetsetting 11042012

Time flew by in a good way -it's great to break traffic laws and listen to whole albums but this much
driving will be avoided in the future. It cuts into beer drinking time before/during/after [stratetgy, eh?].

In Olde San Antone
Friday afternoon, advanced scouting took place at FreeTail brewpub while I waited for HermanaDiablo to get off of work.
Sadly, the draft version of this year's La Muerta Imperial Stout fell short of the standard. Sudden possession of a sad.

Hung with HermanaDiablo Friday night, meeting up with her friends for dinner. Nice time had by all, etc.
Then slept nice and late...

Due to driving to Houston, I skipped the early morning bottle share and braved the mosh pit Freetail became after
30 minutes of opening to score bottles for myself and absent friends. Hopefully the bottle version will better.
If not, I don't see myself going next year.

Houston's Desolate Funeral Chant
Foreign territory enhances vacation and driving from San Antonio to Houston broke new ground. I haven't visited Houston
for two decades. A metal fest featuring Inquisition got my horns up. Plus it was great taking vacation and the rest of the
department needed to pick up my slack equals JOY!

I took advantage of being in an LJ friend's hometown to meet-up with sigrdrifumal.
I've been on the Internet since the early nineties and IRL is as great as ever. Plus I get to prove I'm not a troll/stalker. :>

Highlights of the Fest:
Blaspherian -Houston based purveyors of sick death metal riffs courtesy of “Vitamin I”:
Incantation, Immolation. Minus five for the drummer's goofy faces.

HellGoat - only in that I've got a friend in the “other” Hell Goat based in DFW that's Southern metal as opposed to
Black Metal. The Atlanta based band needs more time to get tighter or a better guitar player.
Good drummer and front man. Minus 15 for copping Watain's roadkill/cutting thing. Inquisition worked around Immortal's
model and so can you.

Inquisition - lovely music in an intimate setting. After a twenty-seven show run, a tighter set couldn't have been achieved.
Then again, being a two man band helps too. Dagon would make an excellent addition to Immortal -I don't feel
InQ's drummer is as good as the guitarist but Immortal is now a brand rather than a band, still true but nothing new.
