The first half of the Lpar migration is done. Not pretty with some weird stuff that we fought through to make it happen.
Sixteen-hour day for me yesterday with a ninety-minute session of phone and emailing reports this morning.
Others suffered as well, so no complaints about effort.
Coupling Facility errors due to unplugging/plugging of cables. Very sensitive beasts, that required a dummy
FRU replacement to make channel connections work.
OSA trunks backwards - no network connectivity. I predicted this horrorshow. Too bad money couldn’t have been made wagering. This,
jumpers and definitions were connected by outside groups [that should’ve gotten it right…] gave the green TCP/IP light.
FCTC’s boxed offline- no network connectivity from other lpars. Mainframe COM guys are a skewed lot, just about worthless and
no more so than here at InfiddleVestCorp. No matter how many times I supply documentation, they don’t know it or claim to have seen it.
Nor can they talk in a way that anyone -but me- understands what they’re trying to convey. I brought resolution from simply varying
the 5xxE and 5xxF UCB’s off, then online -bringing them into allocation.
Then there were the inevitable channel errors. Lots of cleaning and replacing.
Lessons [lesions?] learned [earned?] by all, should provide for a smoother run next weekend, which will be 2/3 of this weekend
and the last 1/3 will be on 09.11.
