Observations Accrue, Yielding…Meh
After two workouts at each gym, I’ve gone with L.A.Fitness. Better location and facilities. I did find 24 Hour Fitness to be amusing for people watching:
--1800’s Strongman in a solid black leotard, though no greased mustache
--Hot blonde lady with meaty C-cups jumping rope in the free-weight area
--Prison-yard tattoo displays. Support the arts.
Anticipation: InfiddleVestCorp Gets Quiet
The company is a time warp [70/80's] and are just now are getting their support areas organized [i.e. non-core focus]. Flushing out the old folks -management is starting to make things interesting; today I heard that the last round of lay-offs was determined by consultants. Brilliant [ugh].
Now they’re looking at areas to outsource and selling off the India unit. Desktop is already being done and Facilities is probably next. Makes sense. Being mainframe doesn’t spare my area but having one of the more complex environments around keeps it from being a “low hanging fruit”. I hate that term.
On the brightside, they got rid of Pinhead The Tuna and more lay-offs, plus a re-org is coming. This should be entertaining, possibly sucky but things have been boring for a while now. Next week is the target for the death orgy.
