I caught a cold or something too, so besides the pile of painkillers for my kidney stone, that wiped me out as well; I've been unconscious for most of the last three days. Some people would say "woe is me," but I prefer to think of it as timing my illnesses in an efficient way to minimize downtime.
Unfortunately I have my trip to Magi-Fest starting on Thursday (thank goodness I should pass the stone just in time), and I've got to schedule in doctor appointments around it. (I now need a doctor's note to return to work.) And I need a haircut, a car inspection, dental work, some clean laundry... I've had close friends and family offer help, but I'm not sure I can delegate any of it. Things are just going to be a mess for me for a little while!
Like most misfortune, this has given me some self-pity, but I try to see the bright side: in another time or another place, this could have killed me. It certainly would have been much more difficult and painful. I have a job with paid time off, I have medical insurance covering enough of the costs that it won't bankrupt me, I have a spouse seeing to my comfort and the love and support of friends and family...
