I've had migraines, broken bones... the pain in my abdomen beat them all. I wondered if it was possible to have an appendix burst at my age. Luckily, in the ER they were able to give me something that knocked me (and my pain) on my ass while they did some tests... and found a kidney stone. Who knew they could hurt so bad?
I'm so grateful it's nothing life-threatening, but I'm going to be eating a lot of painkillers for the next few days, it seems. (And even the big guns are only barely managing it...) I'm a little angry. My sister got kidney stones, my father got several, and he teased that it was inevitable that I would too. But his diet is terrible, and I have made a point for YEARS of drinking at least 2 liters of water a day. My genetics have given me anxiety, bad teeth, and now kidney stones... lucky I'm not having kids.
I'm a little concerned about my ability to work. I also have to follow up with a urologist because apparently a too-big-to-pass stone is waiting in the wings. This is all with a trip out of town to Magi-Fest coming up. (I guess I'm lucky the pain didn't hit while I was there...)
I'm very grateful to have Jen's support, though, and the kind words from everyone who has heard really mean a lot to me. Thank you all. Psychologically, knowing that people care about you makes a difference.
