Why can't my lovely little hometown of Kirkwood be in the news for something positive for a change?
Last night, some guy named Cookie (who my mom says used to be nice, but recently turned in to the town lunatic) came in to the city council meeting and shot 7 people. Five of them, including 2 police officers and Connie Karr (a family friend and council member) were killed. The mayor was shot in the head and is in critical condition. Another friend of my mother was shot, but we're not sure how he's doing. Another friend of mine, who is a Kirkwood police officer, is ok, but I'm still worried about him and everyone else in Kirkwood.
Every time something like this happens anywhere, I wonder what makes people snap. But especially when it happens in my hometown. I'm still kind of in shock and a little freaked out. Why didn't someone recognize the obvious problems with this man and get him the help he needed? I find myself with many questions and no answers, and I don't know how to handle myself right now.
**edit** the mayor's condition is improving, but i found out that our other family friend was also killed.
