I just finished reading my brother's manuscript for him even though I felt completely unworthy to comment on it at all. I shot off an email to him with my observations and he called me shortly after to discuss issues in further detail. He told me I actually helped him with my suggestions, so I was thrilled. He's got a copy editor who will fix all the little stuff so I didn't bother with any of that. He's looking at publishing sometime this fall. His book was very good. Very gritty, realistic, war-ravaged third-world country intrigue. Very different from my own! He's an excellent writer and I can't wait to see his book in print now.
As mentioned in my previous post, Guardians and Graves, the second novel in my Moonlit Wings series was published last Friday. It has since been made available through Amazon.com now. If you search my name, Beth Gualda, both books come up now. I'm pleased.
I've been trying to reformat it for Smashwords so it can be published as an ebook, but I got to the point I just gave up on it and sent it off to the person who reformatted Cemetery Moon for me. I just don't want to chance it getting distorted in the conversion process--which apparently happens very easy and is why Smashwords has such strict format guidelines. Sure it's more money I really don't have, but these books are the only things I spend money on nowadays.
Sent off for the third proof of the fourth book, The Scent of Rain. I've managed to whittle the page count down to 286 just by fiddling with the format. I rewrote some major scenes since the last proof and actually added to the page count, but the revised format helps.
Sanctuary is still on schedule. Maybe even ahead of schedule. The last proof yielded only minor errors. I still have to order at least one more before it is ready to go. Even if it is, I think I might hold off a bit and concentrate more on marketing Cemetery Moon. After all, if I can't sell the first book, publishing the rest of the books in the series is futile.
