yet another post all about me!

This weekend we got our stuff from storage - yay! Granted we don’t own much but it was nice, and almost like Christmas. We have pretty much been getting small things here and there since last November that I have not allowed us to use anything. Why… because it was all bought with the notion that it was for the “new” place. Call me crazy but I wanted to use the new things in the new place - I’m anal like that. Instead, I stashed everything in boxes and forgot about half of it, which made unpacking fun.

We also got our new mattress on Saturday and it is heaven. I LOVE it. Now if we can just get the rest of the bedroom furniture in the room we are making progress. As I have mentioned, my bedroom furniture is white and about 6 years old. I still like the set but the white has really become an off white and it’s annoying me. More so when I have white sheets on the bed where the off white really sticks out. So the plan is to repaint it - assuming I can make it look new and professional. I’m sort of dreading this project but if it works I’ll be so happy, otherwise we’ll need a new set and with all the stuff we have to purchase I really would like to avoid going there.

I’m now on the fence over the kitchen, which I wanted to paint orange. I still like orange but I seem to have a fear of committing to the color on my walls. But this happened with the grey in the bedroom so I should really just trust in myself, you know? I think the thing is that both colors would take more effort to fix if I hated the outcome so I go through a stage of freaking out when it’s time to do the deed.

Quick kitchen question for you ladies… when you cook, what do you do with things like cooking spoons, thongs etc that you are using at the time? Also, what about the lids to the pots?

In our last kitchen the sink was right next to the stove so I always placed them in the sink. I can’t really do this with ease anymore since the sink is on a different counter and I really don’t want to wash down the counter or cutting board if I’m not using it for anything else. Is there another solution? I know they have spoon resters but this doesn’t solve my lid issue and where I put the lid when I take it off the pot but still need it. There probably is no solution and I should just suck up having to wash down another surface every night. Really, I shouldn’t be so lazy.

BTW, my husband is driving me crazy. Moving and our marriage do not mix!

And damn it, I wanted to post about some IVF stuff but I’m off in 6 minutes and really need to get my butt to Home Depot for paint. Fred’s mother comes next weekend and this will be her first visit to NY since we moved here (other then our wedding). Gasp! So we must get our bedroom set painted and out of the living room before then.

Adios!
