SLEEPING WITH GIANTS OFFICIAL POST OF AMAZINGNESS!

omgomgomgomgomgomgomgomg I met Gabe.

But firrrst...

Okay, so being in a car with Melanie, Caroline, and my mom is hilarious. We got caught in horrible traffic and called up Frankie the whole time. We said that he should have come, and that there wasn't enough room in the car because our replacement Frankie, Frankie Jr. the maroon cooler, was in his seat. Caroline and he continued their epic "Stiff Kittens" fight, Caroline proclaiming she was very happy on her mountain where everyone that hated "Stiff Kittens" ran away to. They finally resolved this fight during Sherwood, when Caroline texted him saying that she listened to some of the other songs and liked them, and that they weren't all that bad. Although, for the rest of the carride, we'd say things like Melanie had a bladder of a stiff kitten, Frankie Jr. was hogging all the water, and that whenever the cellphone conviniently crapped out while talking to Frankie, it was because Caroline was too high on her moutain.

It was a fucking downpour when we waited online. I met up with some girls that went to see the same AFI and FOB shows I went to and we fangirled as we slowly went in. We saw Ben from Armor for Sleep. It kinda looked like he ate Wentz- tannish skin, black hair that looks like it needs a haircut, fedora, vest. I totally thought it was Wentz for a split second. But it was really cold, I started to get the shivers. My mom was making fun of the FOB teenies in back of us. Melanie kept trying to hide her hair from the rain by wearing her jacket weird. What's sad is that I have this all on film, and when I'm not half-dead I'll upload it. We finally got in and found the perfect spot- right where the fence ended, and right by the enterance to the stage (Eeee). And so it began.

Cobra got their instruments right by me (!!!!!!!!!). Ryland appeared first, and I screamed at him. He gave me a wave. I noticed the other Cobra Boys, as well as the lovely tech crew (Gooo techs!) and then... there she was. The beautiful VickyT.

Honestly, I was floored. She's so beautiful up close (no, seriously, I was up close) and it came out. "OH MY GOD, VICKYT, I LOVE YOU!!!" She looked up, saw the short girl right by the fencey area that was me, waved and smile. A real smile. Like a eyes light up and teeth smile. I nearly died. Then Caroline screamed, "NO, REALLY, SHE'S IN LOVE WITH YOU." Then I died.

Their set was friggin' AMAZING. Granted, it was short, but they played the staples and had a good time doing it. "Church of Hot Addiction", "Hey Mister DJ", and even "Guilty Pleasure", which made me oh-so happy. The security guards let me step a little bit out of the crowd, and I was with some photographers. I have witnesses, Gabe totally saw my terrible, off beat mad dance skills. I think he approved.

He looked happy to be in Jersey, and he was just fun. They did the synchronized "Fangs up!" and got some guys in back of us hooked on them. They did a great job and I'm so glad I got to be in the front (of Vickyt).

Now, I'm going to be honest, my only idea of Gabe is his albums and slash. And nine times out of ten he's the creep that locks William/Patrick/Ryan/some guy that's ultra submissive in a basement and does things to him. I didn't really read any interviews up until yesterday (er, two days ago) when he did the Out.com interview. Something about him seemed real, the way he talked about meeting his idols always being less-than-stellar, and all that. It made me curious to see if he was any better than them. So as I was looping around to look for the Rocket Summer (which were catchy and cute as hell <3) I saw a tall, hatted, red-hoodied man... Gabe. I fell into a sea of fangirls.

The whole time I was thinking about the Out.com interview. And how nice he was. The guy was out there for a good thirty-forty-five minutes at the time. He shook everyone's hand, got their name, signed, took pictures... he retook some pictures when they didn't come out right. A girl got a call on her phone while they were taking the picture and he answered it. Obviously, "Sarah" freaked out. He retook a picture three times. Three fucking times. No guards, either. Just Gabe and a bunch of girls (and Gabe lookalikes... can't forget them!). So I shoved my way until I literally popped in front of him.

Keep in mind, I'm itty bitty, and he's six foot-something, so I was at level with Justin Timberlake. He made direct eye contact and said, "Hey! I'm Gabe! Who're you?" as he reached out his hand. I shook it and smiled, saying, "Hey, Gabe! I'm Donna!" He grinned and I put up my shoe, which he signed, and I mentioned the Out.com interview and how awesome he was that he took his stand against homophobia. He grinned and said, "I'm so glad that you support me!" and gave me a high five. I didn't ask for a picture, I guess I should have, but for some reason it was so perfect, because that time that would have taken to fumble with the camera (and retake three times) would have took out that nice little chit chat we had (of course I added the usual, "Your set was great! I love the new album!" stuff. I really wish I planned it out better, but in all honesty? I didn't think I'd meet him, especially so quickly.

I just want to add that he was doing signing for a solid hour and a half-two hours. Same cheery Gabe. Caroline got a high five because she wanted to hear Armor for Sleep. He danced and sang in-between signing to Armor. He's easily one of the nicest musicians I've ever met.

Armor for Sleep was alright. Musically, amazing, as always. Singing-wise... eh. Not so much. They played two new songs. The first one was bouncy, but lyrically lacking, definitely nowhere near the first two albums. But you could still bob your head. The second one sucked horrible. I hated it. So much. So bleh.

But now, bum bum buuuum... The Academy Issssss...

They were pitch-perfect. Even when the mic died half-way through the set (after Gabe, Ryland, and Nate(?) danced around to "Slow Down"). Chiz looked gorgeous, and when he jumped on the drumstand I died. The Butcher was showing off his gorgeous tattoos, Sisky wore a Chicago Bulls shirt, Mike was just the awesome Mike, and William made the girls go wild. He kept yanking the collar of his shirt down his chest. They played EVERYTHING, came back for an encore, and tried to piss us off because he said that the Bulls were going to beat the Nets on Halloween (Oh yeah, we booed). Hardcore. We even ran through the crowd during "Unexpected Places" and got up close and personal with Mr. William Beckett. I must say, he's very pretty in real life, as is all the boys and girls on the tour :)

I'm just going to be an obnoxious slasher for a moment, though. During the set, William started touching Chiz, then Chiz began following William. Chiz dropped to his knees in front of William, playing his guitar. And you know what? It was hot. Fucking. Hot. Chiz, you're a sexy Aussie. People, you should slash him more.

So basically, this was one of the best concerts ever! :D Yayyy. And I didn't feel all philosophical and shit after it, either!

the academy is..., cobra starship, concerts
