Long Feng's perspective of the night he met Hyobeckyh2112April 30 2010, 01:41:25 UTC
The Dai Li uniform is heavier than he remembers it being. This is a mistake, some part of Long Feng thinks. He has gotten too used to simple cloth, instead of the metal-strengthened cloth used by the Dai Li. He cannot fight like this.
One of his people is out here. Prince Lu Ten is out here.
He saw the fires from the Inner Wall as the firebenders tried to search the Agrarian Zone. He saw the way black earth would rise up and swallow them sometimes.
He shouldn't be out here. Not all of the Firefolk have been pushed back. If any of the generals or his captains knew he was doing this...
But they do not. His years as a minister have not erased his Dai Li training. Most people think it has, though, and that's a wonderful thing to take advantage of.
He needs to find the Fire Prince before anyone else does. He has something no one else has, too- Liu's gasped directions of where he had seen Agent Hyo go.
Agent Hyo had not come back. Long Feng made certain of that before he went out in the fields himself.
Agent Hyo had not come back to Ba Sing Se, and the Fire Prince had not gone back to his camp.
One of his people is out here alone in the dark, and the Fire Nation is searching for the Fire Prince just as assiduously as he is.
Long Feng walks and listens to the movements in the earth. Liu said this way, but he feels nothing in this direction. Only the dead are here, if there are any-
Weight ghosts, so faint he almost thinks he imagines it.
He pauses, listens. There is no further movement to resonate against him, but he has other senses, better and more reliable senses.
"The stars are bright," someone says weakly, with Ba Sing Se accent. Close.
A few steps more, and he breaks out of the field to an area of destruction. Fire and earth have cut swaths through here, and there are bodies in Fire armor on the ground and one lone Dai Li.

And thus begins a relationship that will last beyond a lifetime. <3
Thank you, darling.
I just love the little things here -- Long Feng going after one of his agents because dude, his agent is not back yet; getting directions from Liu; not having warn a Dai Li uniform in years; people thinking his Dai Li training has been erased...
And the finding of Hyo. <3 I like the phrase "weight ghosts". It says so much with so few words.
