So much yes. Following his heart, and the Doctor giving them hope, and the last sentence as well. Because he can't know. But he can hope.

And because he can hope he's Jack and he's human. The fact that he collapsed when he thought he was alone, and snapped to with a plan and some action just made me fall in love with him all over again. That he * left them* just made me fucking GLEE.

Yes! ...I think this whole season's kind of been "you are not alone" for the Doctor, and here, it's a reminder for Jack, too.

YES. That's actually gorgeous and so, so very true. And that "Where the hell have you been?!" is actually similar, on some level I can't pin down. Maybe not similar but affirmation to the Doctor and maybe acknowledging that when it all goes to shit -- Jack's still looking for the doctor. (I'm a shipper. I can't help it.)

Oh man. Seriously, I loved this episode and for all that it was chaotic and I loved the tw bits (!!! I know), that he went from sitting alone and giving up to running for the fight just made me grin like a fool

Yes, absolutely.

You know what else I love? Rose was freaking out over the regeneration and Jack was just calm and handling the guns and Rose and Donna. Because it doesn't matter to him what face the Doctor is wearing, it's still the Doctor. *loves Jack for that*

Yep and he was still protective of about it - just back off. Reminded me of the Doctor to Martha while she was trying to revive him after he died at the end of the universe.

Yes, yes and also YES. Hope and heart, and damn, but this was the perfect episode. All those Jack OTPs coalescing. I died with love when he yelled "Where the hell have you been?!"

This was *THE PERFECT* episode. I was scared to DEATH that they were going to do someone major disservice with all the people and activity but No. Oh, no. It was beautiful and Jack was so, very, perfectly Jack. All those people, all that love, and yep, totally with you. TONS of HEART.

Oooh, drabbles! Nice to see you writing again!

And this is lovely. It does feel very Jack, even if I hate him just a little bit for not taking Gwen and Ianto with him.

The bit that killed me was when they all heard "Exterminate" for the first time and Martha's staring, SJ's crying, and Jack just clings to Ianto and Gwen and apologises because he can't save them. He's so so Jack in his reaction to hearing the Daleks.
