Latest happenings in my life

- Steve left BNL.  I'm over it.  Was probably over it before it happened, but whatever.  I'm totally excited for the 'new' BNL and I'm so lucky to be able to see them do their first show in their new incarnation.  Yay!!

- Went to Downtown Disney on Wed to meet up with my best friend from high school, Adam, and his daughter and girlfriend.  Got home super late (for me) and was late for work the next day.  Luckily, I warned my boss of this likelihood ahead of time.  And I was only 30 minutes late, which is good for me.  :)

- Yesterday we had a squadron outing to go see the Washington Nationals play a spring training game at our local stadium.  Couldn't give 2 shits about the Nats, but it was an excuse to get out of the office.  Brought Kaylee with me and she had a ball.  Consequently, we were both pretty tired after the game and went to bed early.  Like at 8pm.

- Last night around midnight, I heard someone banging on a door.  I wasn't sure if it was my door or the neighbors door.  It kept persisting so I finally got up and realized it was in fact my door.  When I opened my bedroom door and heard some water hissing-like, but I thought it was the toilet in the other bathroom running, but when I got closer to the kitchen, I realized it was coming from there.  Then I saw the water in the kitchen, and opened the undersink cabinet and saw that there was water leaking from the hose that goes to my dishwasher.  The banging started again and I answered the door to my downstairs neighbor asking if we were OK - he though my apartment was on fire or something - and I said that we were fine, but that my dishwasher was leaking.  He said he knew 'cause the water was leaking into his apartment, and his roof was about to cave in.  I didn't know what valve to turn to stop the water - I turned one in one direction and it didn't stop, so I didn't want to do anything else, thinking I might make it worse.  So I called the after hours service for the apartments to have maintenance come out (as did my neighbor, who also sent someone to the security guard shack to see if they could call someone).  No one came and no one called.  Until 7am this morning.

I was up half the night waiting on a phone call - and I even called again at 3am to see what the deal was.  Turns out there was something wrong with the pager system so the on-call guy never got called.  And neither did the property manager, which I think was a bad decision on someone's part.  But, when the maintenance guy did finally come, he found out the problem - a rodent had eaten through the tubing that goes to the dishwasher.

Now, we've known we've had a mouse problem for a while, and we already caught one. (Actually, that was all Dave's doing, 'cause I was having NONE of dealing with capturing or disposing of any kind of creature.)  In addition, we believe one of our rodent residents is actually a rat.  Either that or a REALLY big mouse.  Whatever it is, it had taken to using the cat's former feeder as a chew toy (we moved her food into a cool whip bowl with a cover to avoid giving these things a huge buffet).

So, I went to the office this morning to complain about the lack of maintenance response - AGAIN - and to tell them that I have a cat and to get them to take care of this rodent problem.  Luckily, the pest control guy was here today so he's supposed to come by and set some traps.  I told him set big ones 'cause the glue traps aren't gonna work - we saw little rodent footprints on one, it's not catching anything.

That's been what's going on with me the last few days.  Hopefully I can get a full night's sleep tonight.  I need it!!!
