1: Pick five fandoms. List them in alphabetical order.

2: Visit this site to find your first RANDOM POEM OF POWER. Write down the 5th line (yes, even if it's an E.E. Cummings poem and you wind up with an apostrophe). Repeat five times and - you guessed it - list 'em in alphabetical order! (No cheating, mind! This is a challenge and it's always been about creativity.)

3: I think you can see where this is going. Write a very quick 50-word half-drabble for each fandom (try to do it all in one sitting - make your brain explode!), using the line from the poem as a prompt. You don't have to include it in the half-drabble - it's just inspiration.

4: Bravo! Have a cookie.

All of these qualify as G rated. Standard disclaimer applies to all. I own none of these characters, and I am making no profit off of any of this. I'm just having a little fun with the characters.

1. Highlander: "But his sincerity."--Emily Dickinson

He'd been telling lies not just for centuries but millennia. Methos knew charm would get you so far, but it wouldn't get you as far as sounding truly deeply sincere. All the sincerity in the world, real or feigned, wasn't enough to earn you some people's forgiveness. Other people would forgive you even if you never asked for it. Darius would forgive you. He'd forgiven him.

2. MCU: "How deathly pale my face looks in that glass."--Conrad Aiken

Bucky didn't look too closely at the bottle or glass. It wasn't that he felt any shame. It wasn't the first time he'd done his drinking alone. Bucky didn't expect it would be the last. No. It wasn't the alcohol he was avoiding looking too closely at. It was the glass, smooth, clear, and frosted because they kept it cold here. It was the frost on the glass he couldn't stand to see.

3. Shadowhunters: "No more black."--Stevie Smith

The old rhyme says, "Black for hunting through the night," but what would happen to the world when there was no one left to wear it? There was so much white, too much white. That same old rhyme says, "For death and mourning, the color’s white." If they kept dying there would be no more black or white. There'd be no one left to wear either black or white.

4. Torchwood: "There's better lads than him about."--Dorothy Parker

Jack knew he couldn't die. He'd had it demonstrated for him time and again by now. Jack had died in more place on Earth than most ever got to visit. It had been a long time since he could be consider young or good. Jack was content knowing each time he died a horrible death, in some dark alley; he was the one doing the dying. He did it so the young and the good wouldn't.

5. X-Men: "You love them."--Richard Brautigan

Erik quietly watched how Charles made his students work. He pushed them, but only each at their own pace. Charles gave them encouragement whether they succeeded or failed, and some of them literally crashed and burned. It didn't matter. Erik knew why. He said it to Charles, "You love them all." Charles nodded agreement before adding, "I love you too."

I definitely didn't keep them to 50-word half drabbles, but also didn't get them up to full 100-word drabbles. They're more like 2/3 drabbles or 3/4. Also, 4 out of 5 made me think of a specific character in their fandom, but the shadowhunter one just made me think of a nameless shadowhunter that had been to one too many funerals.
