Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 1

Jan 01, 2015 20:23

Thanks to some of my friends on my flist talking excitedly about the challenge, and the mods stressing, "this is a low pressure, fun challenge," I'm giving it a try this year. On with Day 1.

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Share what you've created. Be proud of your creativity.

I'd like to take the approach of showcasing how I've done different kinds of fanwork in different places.

* First and foremost, I want to rec my epic nine piece Profiler/Anita Blake crossover fic which I began in 2001 -- Playing With Fire. It can be found in its entirety on my My Scribblings Page at my website. It's a story I have since begun slowly working on converting to an original novel, with the ultimate goal of the book being the first in a series of books about my very own supernatural FBI team.

* Second, something much shorter, and not featuring any characters from Profiler, I want to rec a pinch hit I did for someone's Fandom Stocking in 2011 called Breathe With Me. It's one of the very small number of pieces I've posted at AO3.

* Last, but certainly not least, I want to rec the icons I've made over the years. I've never been good at drawing. I can't produce hand drawn fan art. I've never really tried sewing so I don't know if I could make fan art that way. I do, however, own a copy of Photoshop, and I have made a number of photo manipulations and icons over the years with it. Many of the icons are visible right here in my Userpics, and still more can be found else where in my journal by use of my icons tag.
