First, Neva set herself a limit of, "since Sandoz said 'mutant powers' instead of 'magical or superhuman powers,' I'm drawing my list specifically from the X-Men universe." and I'm not sure if that rules out magic. Both Magik and The Scarlet Witch have something of a link between their "mutant powers" and their magic.
My Top Five Mutant Powers
1. Teleportation
2. Healing (of myself and others)
3. Shapeshifting
4. Weather Control
5. Reality Warping
Plus, five things I learned (or was reminded of) while making this list.
1) I really like characters with magical powers.
2) I'm not content with simple flight. I want powers where flying is one of the things the power allows me. Shapeshifting, Weather Control, and Reality Warping all give me flight in a way.
3) I like powers that allow me to make changes--changes to where I am, changes to how healthy I and others are, changes to my shape, changes to the weather, and changes to reality.
4) I am a reality warper. Not like a Marvel super character, but in a very real sense. Philip K. Dick said, "The basic tool for the manipulation of reality is the manipulation of words." I'm warping someone's reality right now--making it darker, or lighter, or more varied.
5) There are a variety of reasons that Neva and I are friends including, but definitely not limited to -- our love of A Wrinkle in Time, "Captain Jack Harkness," and Marvel mutants. :D
