Archiving List About BBC Sherlock...

...or That awkward moment when you realize you need a Lestrade "Not my department" icon.

I initially put this list together for dunkle_feuer. Now I'm saving it here.

Top Five Things I Love About the BBC's Sherlock
1. Benedict Cumberbatch's performance as Sherlock
(I've no doubt someone else reading the exact same lines Benny does could make Sherlock seem so much more like an ass. Benny gives Sherlock a wonderful vulnerability.)
2. Rupert Graves' performance as Lestrade
(I have to have seen many versions of Lestrade, given how many versions of Sherlock and Watson I've seen, but there isn't another one where I distinctly remember the actor playing him. Rupert makes Lestrade both memorable, and a character I care very much about.)
3. Mark Gatiss' performance as Mycroft
(I can think of other actors that have played Mycroft, but not one I think did it as well as Mark does it. Benny and Martin might not be my first choices as The Best Sherlock and Watson ever, but Mark is most definitely my idea of The Finest Mycroft.)
4. Sherlock's wearing what some call a "Hero Coat"
(I don't know exactly how long I've been in love with men in long coats like that. I'm sure it predates any one on Highlander: The Series putting one on. I do know I loved learning John Barrowman and David Tennant took to calling theirs "Hero Coats." It fits. They are rather a modern substitute for a Prince Charming, or Superman cape. It also doesn't hurt any that Benny seems to be so very good at moving around in his.)
5. Sherlock is a high functioning autistic in it
(I don't know if the writers admit to it or deny it. I've heard the writers for The Big Bang Theory deny that Sheldon is one in spite of how clearly he is one. Whether they admit to it or not, that is definitely what he is. I love having that explanation of how Sherlock has a very really problem along with all his genius.)
