I realize my last post was, according to the livejournal tracker, 15 weeks ago... but some things don't post well in facebook.
Since Nate accepted the position at Cedarville University in Ohio, I have been noticing how many things I am going to miss about New England. I hear there are some great things about Ohio (friendly people, lots of corn and soybeans, great bike paths) and I'm actually excited (and a little stressed) about the move, but I am totally a New England girl at heart and always will be.
Just a few of the things I am going to miss:
1. Stepping out of my car at work in Mystic and smelling the ocean! Plus, the nice breeze that you get on the shore on any given day.
2. Stone walls. I am a lover of stone walls- there is so much history there.
3. The smell of pine trees. Trees in general (although I now realize there ARE trees in Ohio).
4. Rocks and boulders.
5. Hills.
6. The smell of summer in New England. It's almost impossible to describe but if you are from the New England/ up state New York area you know what I'm talking about.
7. Never being more than a 2 1/2 hour drive from a river, lake, ocean, mountain, major city, or apple orchard.
To make it a fair balance a few of the things I may not miss so much:
1. Traffic on I-95 in the summer!
2. The high cost of living in Connecticut!
3. Our lack of good diners that will serve you pie at 3 am.
