What I am thankful for

Nov 23, 2005 22:34

Recently all my friends around here and online have been expressing what they are thankful for so I thought I'd jump on the band wagon and do the same.  Of course I am thankful for friends, family, food, shelter...everything on Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs but there are other things that I am especially thankful for!  Of course some may seem odd or make you think WTF...but they make my life easier :-)

)Heat- For those of us who are constantly cold even when others aren't it's so nice to be able to come home and turn up the heat to whatever temperature makes me comfortable...which is usually 76-78 :-)

)My dogs- Eventhough they can drive me crazy like right now one is trying to type on my laptop, I am so happy to come home and have 3 soft fuzzies to snuggle with.  They can get expensive but who else loves you when you're happy, sad, pissed off, look like shit...etc.....

)Acrylic nails- If it weren't for the development of these wonderful hard as rock plaster I would have no nails because they met the unfortunate fate of being chewed off without having a chance to grow.

)Pictures- I am thankful for pictures for many reasons.  No one's memory is so extremely vivid that they can remember events from their 1st birthday or their high school prom when they are in their 50's.  You can tell so much about a person by their pictures! If their truly happy, their relationship with their friends, and of course how you look!  Mirrors lie...pictures don't.  And of course I have pictures to remind me of the many stupid things my friends and I have done during many drunken nights.

)Nick- I know this is included up above but I am so thankful to have a man in my life that makes me so happy.  No one understands me the way he does or can make me laugh.  He has taught me so much about life and about myself.  We have been through so much that I am eternally grateful our love and our bond is strong enough to stand by each other no matter what life throws our way.

)Internet messengers, homepages, and blogs- I have met so many amazing, sweet, and kind people online!  I have gotten to know them (and gotten a few laughs) from their blogs and journals.  They have also kept me entertained during times of boredom by playing "Which celebrity avatar am I" ;-)

)Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough- Anyone can eat this.  It doesn't have to be cooked, you don't need any preparation, it's easily stored, tastes great, and doesn't go stale like cookies, cake, and chips.

)Security systems- It's not like you have a police officer with you at home but it does provide a nice false sense of security! :-)

)Flowers- They are so beautiful, decently easy to take care of, and usually provide a soothing sense of smell....especially when your intern has "the breath of death!"  (Right Rissa:-)

)Medicine and pain killers- It's not a proven fact but a strong suspicion that without them right now I probably wouldn't be here because of so many respiratory and bladder infections.  Also when getting teeth pulled that stuff they give you is gggrrrrreeeaaatttt.

)Musicals- The education, awakening, and passion I experienced when seeing Evita, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Fiddler on the Roof, Damn Yankees, etc.....is unable to describe in words.

)Airplanes-  How nice is it that going from here to Belvidere only takes a 2 hour plane ride and 1 hour drive, compared to a 19+ hour drive....sweet!

)Beer- A good tasting, very cheap way to relax and lose all inhibitions:-D

)Football- This is the ONLY good sport in the whole world.  Where else can you see teams tackle another person, get the crap kicked out of them and still be OK!  Plus unlike basketball, baseball, hockey, or boxing it actually takes time, distance, and perfect strategy to score!

)Family Guy-  This is my last one but to quote Peter it's "freakin' hilarious."
