It’s one of those warm spring nights where there is a hint of summer in the air which throws you off completely. The temperamental New England weather almost makes you believe its summer, but you still have two months of school left. But it’s nice to dream anyways.
Its nights like these when the summer comes alive and you pretend that you never left. You still feel like you are sitting by the lake looking at the sunset but you know that you never will go back again. You know that it’s over, but when you were there you thought it would never end. You imagine the sunsets, the songs, and your friends and you wish more than anything you were cramped in a tiny area on a top bunk. But you are stuck with research papers and pre calculus and that all seems too far in the past. The days of being a camper are gone and you have finally come to terms with it.
Except for on a night like this, when you go back into your past and try to relive all those summers again. You think of your friends, of the memories and laugher you shared. You just want to escape, to be outside, and you remember how you would have been eaten alive by mosquitoes.
You want to leave, but you cant, you can’t go on anymore. Its not even May and it’s supposed to be 50 degrees at the end of the week. You say goodbye to the warm 80 degree sun as your research paper is calling you back. Back to the real world, but it was nice dreaming…
