On The Road- Jack Kerouac
Lies My Teacher Told Me- James W Loewen
Grief of My Heart, Memoirs of A Chechen Surgeon- Khassan Baiev
The first three were re-reads. The last one just grabbed me. It was hard to get into, but soon the scene he painted, the things he lived through, the choices he made forced me to put it down a couple of times. As much as I wanted to continue I had to take a break because it made me sick to think about it. I just finished the last page today and have spent the past few hours on the internet looking for information about this place and I am bombarded with a million different stories.
Naturally this just makes me rage against the media, and culture in general as soon as I see something about Lindsey Lohan as the top news of the hour. I mean normally I understand, but sometimes I just get into this funk. Maybe I should stop reading these books. I really don't know.
