Reporter: I'd like to direct this question to messrs. Lennon and McCartney. In a recent article, Time magazine put down pop music. And they referred to "Day Tripper" as being about a prostitute...
Paul: Oh yeah.
Reporter: ...and "Norwegian Wood" as being about a lesbian.
Paul: Oh yeah.
Reporter: I just wanted to know what your intent was when you wrote it, and what your feeling is about the Time magazine criticism of the music that is being written today.
Paul: We were just trying to write songs about prostitutes and lesbians, that's all.
Dear Paul McCartney,
I fucking love you. XDDDDDD
Norwegian Wood is one of my favorite Beatles songs, and since there's a movie based on Haruki Murakami's novel inspired by the song, and I'm going to start reading that book, I decided to look up the inspiration behind the song. Mom told me it was based on an affair John had when he was with his wife. I wondered if she meant Yoko or Cynthia, so I looked it up, and came across this quote. xDDDDD
Incidentally, it was his first wife, Cynthia Powell/Lennon he was stepping out on when he wrote it, and NO Norwegian Wood is not about Yoko. xD According to what I've read, he didn't really base it on any one particular girl, he just wanted to write a song about an affair without letting Cynthia know. xDDDDD
I love reading about the Beatles. I should really purchase like... The Beatles, A History or something. xD A Beatles biography would be huge though. :| I dunno if I'd ever finish it.
