At work, in the elevator with one other lady this morning. A second lady gets on and says, "Hey, y'all smell good!" The first lady looks nervous and doesn't reply, so I start sniffling very loudly, like a dog snuffling, which makes me laugh, and the commenter laugh and the first lady exit quickly at the next floor.
If context helps, it has been around 100 degrees for the last several days, including a monster thunderstorm on Friday which knocked out power,so people have been a little more talky and less formal up here. And none of the three escalators worked at Cap South this morning, so I had just walked up 4 flights of steps. Good to know my deodorant is working?
Dad and sis came up for Dad's 77th birthday. D arranged for hotel rooms in a part of the area with power, when, ta-da, the power came back on. It had been a sweaty night, even with the windows open. The plan was to take Dad to see Merry Wives of Windsor at Sidney Harman Hall, but we were unsure if they had power, phone lines were jammed, and didn't want to risk being trapped in a hot car in a city with no street lights on the way to a building with no play, so we skipped it. Ouch. THat was expensive. But, it was good to see Dad, and we had birthday blueberry pie obtained by D from The Pie Gourmet. Mm-mm.
