Nags Head: Engineering Genius Wasted on Laundry

Nov 23, 2011 18:19

So Dean says, "Don't haul all the dirty laundry down through the lobby, just chuck it over the balcony to me." I had my doubts, picturing my undies blowing across the damp lot into the dunes, or under people's cars, but we gave it a go:

Worked like a charm, and we had an entertaining hour or so at The Wash House in Manteo washing, drying, and folding laundry. Then lunch at La Cabana, where the 6 year old child (or niece?) of the waitress pulled out my chair for me in an adult manner.

The miniature golf was thunderstormed out, but before hand we shopped for jewelry at Jewelry by Gail (where she remarks as she always does what great skin I have; it weirds me out every time), bought a titanium wedding ring replacement for me at Natural Creations. Hot dogs with kraut at Cap'n Frank's, where we sat outside sipping tea and feeding the mosquitos, Bought cans of peanuts to take home as gifts, then sat around in front of an ice cream store and watched a lady stringing Christmas lights out front. She and her store-neighbor were having a very good time of it. Dean helped a bit.

Today's sunset featured a triple rainbow, not really visible as triple here, and pink puffy clouds in front of which pink herons and pink seagulls frolicked:

Awesome. Thanks, God. I needed that.
