It's a full moon tonight-- so big it almost fills the entire sky-- and as Cereza stares across the stone floor towards Jeanne, she can't help smiling even as her body tenses, ready to fight.

Winking, Jeanne merely draws her pistols before dashing towards her sparring partner, too fast for mortal eyes to see. But not an Umbra Witch. Blocking the incoming kick, Cereza gets Jeanne in her sights-- but a swift push to the right breaks her aim. She counters with a slide, which only succeeds in putting Jeanne back on the defensive, just long enough to line up another wasted shot when the blonde witch is suddenly behind her, two of her own bullets dodged with ease.

It's like this for what could very well be hours-- each countering and adjusting for and evading the other's precise attacks-- and even though these private sorties have a very specific goal, neither can help grinning the entire time.

It's the closest Jeanne gets to be treated like just another of the Umbra Witches, not a future leader for whom pomp and ceremony outweigh substance. As for Cereza, it's the only time she gets to leave her cell (albeit only on her friend's guile and cleverness) and forget about the fact that none of the other witches see her as any more than a threat, a danger to be concealed.

Here, with each other, they can forget about all that-- if only for a little while.

By the time they come to a draw, both weapons squared off against each other at point-blank, Cereza is barely concealing her exhaustion. Despite Jeanne's best efforts to circumvent the rule that the child of 'tainted blood' be forbidden to learn the Umbra discipline, she hadn't been able to thoroughly teach Cereza everything she knew. Not yet.

"Excellent," Jeanne smirks, letting her magic pistols evaporate into the ether. "I really didn't think you'd be able to keep up this whole time."

"Well, you might consider telling the current headmistress to employ a different jailer-- one that can be bothered to stay awake," Cereza quipped. "As it is, nevermind private training-- I might very well get it in my head to escape in a more brutish way than I'm inclined. That woman would probably doze right through it."

"Hmph. Well, it certainly works to our advantage now, I suppose. We'll have to step things up starting tomorrow night if you're going to be ready."

Cereza's smile flickers just a bit, her expression more than a little pensive.

"...Do you really think this will work? I mean, it's quite the risk you're taking for me, and I doubt the headmistress would even allow--"

"That stuffy old fool," Jeanne interrupts, closing the distance until she's mere inches from Cereza's face, "...wouldn't know what's good for the clan if someone had it written out and slapped her with it. And the others know better than to challenge me themselves. If I want an Umbra Witch who just happens to be 'cursed'..." At that she slides a hand along the curve of Cereza's hip, eyes smoldering into the slightly taller woman's.

"...Then I'll get her."

They've done this for what feels like ages-- ever since a hurried, eager moment of mutual adolescent curiosity got wonderfully out of hand-- but Cereza can't help smiling when Jeanne simply kisses her, and the accompanying shiver all the way down to her toes never fails to leave her a little giddy.

Part of her knows they should get back soon, but the fight has left her adrenaline surging and Jeanne looks good enough to eat in that curve-hugging red satin and well, it simply wasn't good luck to break a post-duel ritual after all.

"Mmm... A little bit of a selfish attitude for a future Umbra Headmistress, I'd say," Cereza purrs, her fingers tickling along the dip of Jeanne's back. She somehow manages to squeeze closer to Cereza, her grin almost predatory when she finds the hem of her obscuring robe, her fingers pressing into the warm, soft skin beneath.

"I think you like it."

"Wouldn't you like to know," Cereza breathes, loosening the ties on Jeanne's robe with practiced speed, leaning in to hungrily lavish attention on an exposed patch of skin on her shoulder.

Whatever Jeanne had planned to say is long gone in that moment, and not wasting another second she pulls off Cereza's robe, winds a hand through long silken black hair, and pulls her into a passionate kiss.
