Thinning/layering hair (and lipgloss)

Hey guys, I don't really use lj but I've lurked/posted to this community before because I've found some good advice here. :)

The main thing I want to ask about is hair. I'll put it all under an lj-cut to spare those who don't want to read, but my question is about thinning/layering hair.

Texturizing doesn't thin it out too much. My sister's hair is at your current length and she gets it texturized and it looks fantastic on her.

Ooh, you just need layers that frame the face (I know I can't see your face, haha). I'm thinking that maybe 2 inches off around the entire length, then just layer the rest so that the back is still long, but the rest of it is layered to take some of the weight off of it. Looks like you have beautiful hair in good condition, but I just know how heavy hair can be and it will be great to lighten it up a bit without taking off too much length.

My hair is super thick, and lengthwise, it reaches to just above the bottom of my boobs. I get it layered AND thinned because it just gets too hot having it down otherwise. I think the decision to have your hair thinned should depend on whether you think the weight is due to bulk or simply the length. If it's length, layering it might just do the trick, as you wouldn't want to thin out hair that isn't all that thick. However, if your hair IS thick (I don't think you specified), I would recommend having it thinned. It makes such a big difference! I wouldn't worry about it becoming too thin, because they actually don't remove THAT much hair. And if you do have thick, bulky hair like I do, you won't miss what they do take out!

Thanks to everyone who's responded so far! :)

And I don't really know how thick my hair is, it may be just of a normal thickness... that's probably why the idea of thinning has always made me hesitant. It's not unmanageable or anything, I don't even get knots. I'm thinking when it gets a little longer I'll try going for layers and see if that does the trick!

I think it's fantastic. I have really thick hair and whenever I have to exercise I usually put it up in a ponytail and then I braid the pony.

Mac's dazzleglosses are really good from what I've seen.
