Co-wash and perming help please!

Hi everyone!
So after my post over two months ago, I started co-washing and never looked back. It has been a miracle on my hair and it has never been softer!
But I kind of still have a problem with dry flaking at my hairline. I have tried everything from not combing my hair in such a way to pull at the hairline but it still flakes...?
Anyone ever had this? I put my hair back most everyday but it's always loose at the base of my scalp. I also don't pull it back tightly sso there's really nothing pulling at the hairline.
Any ideas?

Also, I am growing my hair out again. Naturally, my hair is kind of wavy but not really curly. Co-washing really hasnt brought out anything new either.
I recently started working out and my hair gets washed more often, so it's not really making me happy thinking about straightening my hair and drying it every time, especially with co-washing and doing so much for it.
So I was thinking that when my hair got to the length I want, I would get a perm with kind of big curls to work with my hair (I do look good in curls). I have always wanted bigger curls than what I could get on occasion.
Has this worked for people with wavy hair? How was the maintenance? I am all for putting in some product and letting the perm do its thing. But I dislike the natural wave of my hair since its kind of wimpy :/ I have tried curl activators but they didn't work great for me. My hair is kind of thick but with zero volume.
I also look better with a side-swoop fringe. Is it feasible to go to a salon and ask them to leave my bangs alone or does this look funny with a perm?

Thanks!!
