Retin-A Burns

So I'm using Tretinion cream (retin-a) 0.05% for severe hyper-pigmentation from acne. I think I went a little crazy with the cream and now the skin of my upper chest and and shoulders are VERY irritated. Shea butter will help sooth and heal the area.

If the 0.5% is too strong for you, in the future you can use lotion/cream as a buffer and gradually build up to it without a buffer.

I thought you may had made a typo since 0.5% is incredibly strong :)

Also, If you were using it everyday try every other day or every two days. It's normal to experience dryness, flaking, redness, etc so you're going to want to moisture the area regularly. Make sure you're using sunscreen during the day on those areas if they're exposed to sunlight otherwise you'll get more irritation and also sun damage.

0.5% tretinoin cream is sort of a high dose... O.o

I was thinking something like aloe vera? And make sure that you're only applying it sparingly. I'd stop using it until the redness and itchiness dies down, though.

If you think this is too strong, you might want to ask your doctor for a different strength. I've actually never seen anything greater than 0.1% O.o.
