Prom!

Hi!  It's prom season and I need help from you lovely people with a few questions/suggestions...

This is my dress!  The second picture is closer to the actual color - kind of fuscia-purple-y.

My hair is mostly grown-out layers, bra-length.  Since I don't usually do much with it, I'm not sure what to do with it for prom!  I'm thinking I definitely want it up, in some kind of loose updo with some curls coming down.  (Pulled tight/with nothing hanging down makes my jaw look kind of funky.)  Like this, this, this, this, or this.

I'm doing my hair myself to save money, but I'll have my mom and a few friends on hand to help.  I've just never done a loose bun-type hairstyle before, so... what's the best way to go about it?  Is the loose effect just achieved with bobby pins, or is there some trick?  Any suggestions are totally welcome!

I'm also doing my own makeup to save money, and because I feel like I'm better at doing my own makeup because I'm familiar with my face and my complexion, you know?  Does this look work?  I usually wear brown eyeliner but it never shows up very well in pictures, so I'm experimenting with black liner to see if it's any better.

Also, would someone mind pointing me in the direction of a good "how to fill in your eyebrows" tutorial?  I'm still experimenting with how to do that and I'm not having much luck, haha.

Kind of unrelated, but this is the care tag inside my dress.  Since it says it can't be dry-cleaned, should I just hang it somewhere to air out after prom?  I usually just take formal dresses to the dry cleaner right away but this is the first one I've had that warns against that.

The dress straps are a little long, so I marked with safety pins where they need to be in order for the dress to fit correctly in the bust.  Is there any point in trying to do the alterations myself or asking my mom to help, or should I just take it to a professional tailor?  It's about an inch of strap that needs to be sewn down.

General questions...

1. Decent brand of fake nails?  I've never had them before but my nails are not super-attractive and so I'd like to try fakes.  I know basically nothing about which types or brands are good, so any recommendations would be great!

2. What should I look for as far as boob... insert... things... whatever they're called, go?  Do I need them, or can I just wear pasties?  The strapless bras I have definitely don't work with the dress, so do I need something like chicken cutlets (is that what they're called...)?

3. Jewelry!  Since I'll be wearing my hair up, and since the neckline of the dress is so busy, I'm just going to wear earrings and maybe a bracelet or a ring.  I usually just go the "go into every store and look for jewelry that works" route but I figured I might as well check and see if anyone has any specific pairs of earrings that would look good.

Here's another picture of the front of the dress, for reference to the jewelry and bra questions.

Thanks so much!!
