Had my first exam today. It was for Art 29, The Film Experience. It was rather easy and I think I wrote a pretty boss essay comparing early John Ford Westerns and the later Sergio Leone incarnations. Today's bad news was this: following my exam, I returned home to find that my computer fan decided it was a good time to start making the most godawful noise. It was unbearable, so I took it up to the computer fix-it place. To make matters worse, when I attempted to burn some important files to a CD, the burning program would go through the burning process without any hitches but when I put the disc back in the drive it read it just as a blank CD. I went through this twice. So now there seems to be a problem with my disc drive. So the fix-it people are going to fix everything that's wrong with the computer that's not associated with the hard-drive. If it turns out there's a problem with the hard-drive, they're going to call me so I can pull stuff off the drive before they demolish it. This is the first time in three years I've had a problem with my computer that I couldn't fix myself, so that's somewhat disheartening. They're supposed to be done with it within 4-5 days, but for that interval I'll be without a computer of my own and will have to scrounge time in libraries and whenever my roommate isn't WoW-ing out. Oh well. Nothing to do at all tomorrow. Whee.
